The start of the new academic year was marked with excitement and optimism as students, teachers, and the academic community gathered for the annual university opening ceremony: this year is particularly special as the new Lietuvos Inzinerijos Kolegija Higher Education Institution has officially commenced its work. The event featured speeches from the director dr. Lina Girdauskienė, dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology, dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering as well as the coordinators of the first-year students, emphasizing the importance of embracing new opportunities and challenges.
A key moment of the celebration was the presentation of nominal scholarships to outstanding and highly motivated students. Company representatives awarded these scholarships, which serve as both financial support and recognition of the students' exceptional academic performance, active involvement, and dedication to excellence in their chosen fields. These scholarships also symbolize the strong collaboration between the Lietuvos Inzinerijos Kolegija Higher Education Institution and the business sector, which is crucial in preparing highly qualified specialists for the workforce.
After hearing the meaningful words from the community leaders, students were invited to watch a movie in Kaunas Akropolis. At 2pm, everybody gathered at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology where a a guided tour, led by their assigned mentors was given. The tour aimed to familiarize newcomers with the campus and provide them with essential information for a successful start to their university journey. As they explored key locations like the library, student center, and various academic facilities, mentors shared tips on navigating campus life, finding resources, and balancing academics with extracurricular activities. .
The tour concluded with a Q&A session, where students could ask about everything from study habits to getting involved in student clubs. The event left students feeling more confident and connected, ready to embark on their university experience.
The celebration set a positive tone for the academic year, with a shared commitment to learning, growth, and community.
