I am talking to Hamza, 24 year-old first year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program student who shares that becoming a part of Kaunas University of Applied Engineering Sciences community was a conscious choice. Young man confesses that picking this specific program was an easy decision as he had previously done EASA module exams with international schools. The student jokes that sometimes he starts feeling like he had already seen and heard everything but then something new always comes up and is to be found or explored in his classes. Kaunas University of Applied Engineering Sciences has a great community and Hamza is grateful for the professors who are always willing to help him out with language barrier or any other issues he comes across.
Despite not knowing Lithuanian, the student feels like now, having made new friends who speak both English and Lithuanian, it is significantly less difficult to get around. Hamza admits that he is happy in Kaunas and whenever there is some free time off studies, he joins his friends to go out and explore the city in addition to getting to know Lithuania more, travelling to Vilnius or other places on the weekends.
Dealing with homesickness is unquestionably one of the biggest challenges for everybody when it comes to studying or living abroad: Hamza is not an exception, however, once again, he tries to visit his family from time to time and to expand his friend circle. The student gives a piece of advice and says that in order to hit the ground running, finding friends, especially those who speak the local language is the best one can do upon arrival to a new country.
